Speaker Biographies


MR. GEORGE KOO recently retired from his position as Director of the Chinese Services Group at Deloitte & Touche. Since 1978, he has specialized in offering cross border business advice between America and Asia. During these three decades, he was affiliated with Chase Manhattan, Bear Stearns as well as forming his own consulting firm before joining Deloitte. He even represented private equity from Taiwan to draw technology based ventures to Taiwan before cross border investments became popular. He began his professional career with Boeing and Allied Chemical, then joined Alza, a start-up at the time, and industry consulting at SRI International. He currently serves as an outside board member of NYSE listed company, Las Vegas Sands Corporation.

He earned an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University, an Sc.D. in Chemical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and Bachelors and Masters degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He is a former Chairman of Asian American Manufacturers Association and has been chairman of several past conferences on Asian financing and alliances sponsored by the AAMA and held in Silicon Valley. George is a frequent speaker in various public forums on how American business can succeed in Asia. He writes for Pacific News Service on issues relating to Asia.

MR. KENNETH Y. YEUNG is the Founder and President of Prince of Peace Group of Companies which is headquartered in Hayward, California. Today, Prince of Peace has more than 200 employees working at 10 offices & distribution centers in U.S. & Asia. Some of the products they market, such as Tiger Balm pain relieving ointment, Prince of Peace Ginseng & Green Tea have become household names.

In 2004, Ken founded a Children's Home & Rehab center in China to serve 100 orphan children with special needs. It is the first of its kind officially approved by the government.

In the local community, Ken is the founder of the popular Chinese Showers of Blessing TV programs, and he serves as the Honorary President of the Herb Trade Association and the Northern California Teo Chew Community Center.

MR. PETER CHU is currently the COO at ApaceWave, a leader in the development of baseband processors for the global WiMAX industry. Peter is also a General Partner at AsiaTech Ventures, a trans-Pacific venture capital firm. Additionally, he is on the Board of Ceiva Logic and board/advisory member at a few early stage startups.

In the past, Peter was the Chairman of PCNAlert (acquired by IHS), and served as board members at Vialto (Acquired by Cisco) and StarCite/OnVantage, Inc. In the mid-90s, he co-founded Envive/ReliaSoft (acquired by Keynote) and Channel A. He started his career at Oracle and Verity in product management and software services.

Peter is an entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He holds a BSEE from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard University. He currently serves as a board director at Monte Jade West Coast.

MR. WARREN TSAI, the panel moderator, is currently a product marketing manager for STMicroelectronics, a multinational semiconductor company. Prior to his role as a product marketing manager he was an engineering manager and an IC design engineer. Warren holds a BS in electrical engineering and computer sciences from UC Berkeley and dual MBA degrees from Columbia Business School and UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. Back
